As part of the refurbishment, a new lighting concept was implemented by the company Pokorny. This made the new management of the building on Währinger Gürtel visible to the outside world. Energy-saving LEDs were used for the lighting. At the end of August, the Volksoper was illuminated for the first time in a delicate pinkish violet, emphasising the new dynamic lettering on the façade on the Gürtel side, in keeping with the new CI of the theatre under its designated director Lotte de Beer.
