On 24 April 2025, the "Vienna Daughters" Day„ took place in our decoration workshops. The aim is to get girls interested in the fields of technology/digitalisation, science and crafts. Almost 60 of them, aged between 10 and 14, visited us and were able to get a taste of the stage, or rather “backstage air", for a day. How is a stage set created? What happens in the joinery, the metalworking shop, the upholstery shop, the lighting department, the sculpture shop and with our theatre painters? How do you fit a huge theatre set into a not-so-small trailer and what is a lazybones?
All these questions and many more were answered during a welcome session with our Managing Director Petra Höfinger, a short warm-up workshop and a tour of our workshops. The big highlight, however, was the construction of a real theatre backdrop, in addition to the large handicraft corner in the upholstery workshop. We all agree: there's a lot of craft talent lying dormant here! There was another surprise at the end: Marco Di Sapia, a member of the Volksoper Vienna ensemble, brought the self-built set to life with a short performance together with the girls. What a crowning finale to a great and above all exciting day!
We very much hope that all the daughters enjoyed their time with us and perhaps we will see one or two of them again in one of our workshops in a few years' time.
