As part of the refurbishment, a new lighting concept was implemented by the company Pokorny. This made the new management of the building on Währinger Gürtel visible to the outside world. Energy-saving LEDs were used for the lighting. At the end of August, the Volksoper was illuminated for the first time in a delicate pinkish violet, emphasising the new dynamic lettering on the façade on the Gürtel side, in keeping with the theatre's new CI under its designated director Lotte de Beer.
